Behind every great brand there is a story and a reason for why the specific name was chosen. I wanted something that was geographically specific to our area because I love Montana and this great little town I call home. So here is a is little history as to why I chose the name Volta Athletics.
In 1804, The Corps of Discovery, a specialized Military Unit, set out under orders from President Thomas Jefferson to explore the Louisiana Purchase. The expedition arrived in present day Montana on April 27, 1805 and on June 13, Captain Meriwether Lewis was witnessing
“…the grandest sight I ever beheld…”. Captain Lewis records the experience in his journal by writing “… my ears were saluted with the agreeable sound of a fall of water and advancing a little further; I saw the spray arise above the plain like a collumn of smoke . . . which soon began to make a roaring too tremendious to be mistaken for any cause short of the great falls of the Missouri…”
Ryan Dam is built on the largest of the great falls. It was started in 1915 as a hydroelectric dam and was originally named Volta Dam. Later it was renamed after the passing of John D. Ryan, a mining engineer who was president of the Anaconda Copper Company and created Montana Power. To this day, Volta Dam continues to provide electricity to the city. The powerhouse of Great Falls, MT.
We are forging leaders within these walls at Volta Athletics. We are more than a gym. We are a community, a family that builds each other up both physically and mentally. When we leave the gym everyday, we are a little bit better than yesterday. We take what we've learned and we charge forward, full steam ahead into our separate communities, whether work or play. We come along side others that need help or encouragement. Making Great Falls a better place.
